The best robot vacuum will sweep and vacuum your floors with no effort. It will also leave them spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are great features.
Examine your robot's brush regularly for tangled debris and hair. Wash them if needed. Certain models also automatically empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the bottom. This helps reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the more expensive Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've test. They feature motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans that avoid obstacles like furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees a lot of dirt on the carpet, allowing it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in cleaning dog hair. However, they do have a few flaws that keep them from being our top pick. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate rooms with lots of people efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of an area.
It's still a good value, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished floors and you're looking to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can be used when you're at work or school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. click here to read and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, although it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient combination vacuum and mop uses advanced sensor technology to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste and it also learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is comparable to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to take off and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is ideal to get under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a variety of rooms and floors with mixed flooring types, including some area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes and bundles cables.
It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming, a feature that we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks much like a Roomba model than the boxy units of the rivals. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is among the most intelligent and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that has a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.
As with other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, with a simple mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only issue is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This can be a problem in mornings before work or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or the Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very powerful two-in-one that will satisfy most people.

iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It is more efficient in its navigation than its top competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not completely foolproof in our tests, and could be confused with power cords or obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to get the job done. It also comes with a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for various areas of the house based on how dirty those areas are.
For bigger homes it's recommended to choose one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean a specific area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a large furniture. Finally, a recharge and resume function that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of the debris we found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've examined. mouse click the next document 's also self-sufficient with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to create an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as sophisticated combs that remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that will thoroughly clean the area.
